Dogs Rule the Pool
November 11 2008
What a day! Over 90 dogs and their people took over Amazon Pool for two hours of wet fun. Dog paddle was the stroke of choice and the "no running by the pool " rule was suspended for the event. All of the dogs appeared to be enjoying themselves except for one soaking wet long-haired German Shepherd who obviously thought his owners had him confused with a retriever. Two Boxers were wearing life vests so they wouldn't sink. Cody, the Dalmation, had his life jacket on but still couldn't be persuaded to take a dip. Something about his "grandmother" throwing him in when he was a puppy. He said he'll stick with working the firehose instead of getting in the water. Biscuit, a large mixed breed dog whose hind end is paralyzed, used his wheeled cart to manuever down the ramp and into the water. He looked very happy, as did his people.
Overall it was a very successful event, raising over $500 for PAAWS. All of the dogs played well with others. We're all looking forward to the second annual Dogs Rule the Pool next year.
